Il sito dominante gli permetteva di controllare sia val Bisagno che val Polcevera ed il crinale verso i Due Fratelli. Già nel 1319 in questa zona sorgeva una ridotta ghibellina, nel 1478 si fa menzione di una torre; ma la posizione di queste due opere è molto vaga.
